Re: ps5 controller alternatives that are basically like dualshock (ps4), but work on ps5 games. I know there have been threads on this before, but figured PS5 has been around awhile, and I only just recently got hold of one, so thought I would check again. I did some searches just now in this thread for "dualshock", "dualsense", and "controller", but they all seem to be about malfunctions. ; )
Sure, I get why Sony might not want to let PS4 controllers work on PS5 games - $$. But that's fine, I am 100% willing to pay alot for such a thing, because due to a variety of health conditions, my hands just can't tolerate a controller that isn't as ergo as I can find. Frankly when the dualshock first came out and one of my p.t. friends who was a gamer suggested I try it, I was pretty amazed. Is it the greatest controller ever? Probably not. But it has let me play a lot of games where often I could hardly play any, so it has been perfect for *me*. : )
I realize I can use the ps4 controller for ps4-only games. I also don't care if all the new cool ps5 controller features are not available. Using the ps5 controller, regardless of settings, even for 15 min or so, my hands start to hurt. The controller is just too big, and shaped just strangely enough for me that I can't use it.
Now sure I could just keep using my ps4 until it dies, or is no longer supported online, and ditch ps5, or only play ps4 games on ps5, but that's not a great long term choice. (Now that I said all this though, I guess I could switch to PC gaming platform and just use DS4Windows, but then I'd need a gaming pc. hmmm)
Anyhow, I see there are 3rd party ps5 controllers around now, but have no clue if any are grip-wise similar to ps4. Any leads on this, specifically?

Hey all, if a game is free with PS plus (which i dont have yet), does it mean i can get it for free and keep it forever, even if i stop PS plus? Or does it simply mean that it's free... until i stop PS plus?

Hi All, Does anyone know if it is possible to save a video clip you or a friend have sent in party chat?
Recently I sent my friends a clip of my gameplay but unfortunately deleted it from my gallery and would like too save it again and edit it.
When I view the video in chat or click options on it, the only things that pop up are “Delete” or “View and edit spoiler warnings”
Am I able too save it too my gallery again or is my fear true that it is stuck too just sit there.

i recently got a ps5 and i’ve played through god of war ragnarok on launch on my ps4. I got the upgraded version and was wondering how to transfer the saves from ps4 version to ps5 version so i can play new game plus on the ps5 version with 60 fps and stuff whenever that comes out

I have ordered a PS5 today, but saw somewhere that PS5 slim will release this year..
Is it worth waiting for PS5 slim?

I bought the ps5 a few days ago and it’s huge but I would go big because if you go small the fans will be working harder to cool the system off.

Yesterday, I posted something related to motion sickness, I was asking for help with God of war Ragnarok because the gameplay would make me feel sick and get headaches after 30min of playing. Either way, I just wanted to thank all the people who gave me advice and ideas to solve this problem. It actually worked and I couldn't be more happy about it. So, thanks to all of you guys for your ideas
My original post got taken down because it wasn't on the help and questions megathread 😔, so I hope all people that helped me can see my message.
Also if any of you guys would like to help with more ideas or suggestions for people who get motion sickness after playing video games that would be nice

Hello guys. I am about to get a 4TB external hard drive for my ps5 since i'm running out of space. My question is about the usb speed. Is it worth going for a 3.2 usb hd instead of a 3.0 usb hd? For what i researched, ps5 has 2 3.1 usb ports. But where i live it is hard to find 3.1 external hd.
The prices here for 3.0 are around 20-25% cheaper than 3.2.
I am gonna leave ps4 games in the external and the ps5 games in the internal storage. I might also leave some ps5 games in the external and wherever i wanna play them, i would just transfer that ps5 game to the internal. I dont know if that is a good strategy, but probably it will be faster than downloading the game all over again.

It would surely be technically better! However it is double the price of a exrernal hd per TB. With my budget i would be able to buy half the storage. But your comment made me unsure about the hd and i will evaluate a little bit more.

Well not looking at the prices now, afaik u can add up to 2TB in internal nvme. But still this could be double price of HDD. But for sure, I'd go nvme first, and then if I need more memory. I'd then buy HDD. But unlikely I will need more than 2.5TB in total. Yeah, but up to u to decide, both ways seems ok. One better other worse

So about 3d audio. Is it just me and my PS4 headset or doesn't it distinguish between up and down? It's especially noticable in shooters/battle royales where it is important to hear if someone is in the room upstairs or downstairs from you. Is it even possible to simulate this with a stereo headset? (I died in apex legends due to this, maybe the PS5 version doesn't use 3d audio?)

Keep 3D audio in the PS5 settings off for Apex Legends, the game already attempts to simulate 3D audio on its own. But in general Apex sound mixing can range from bad to terrible on every platform.

I am looking at two games but having a hard time deciding which one to get, need for speed unbound as it's on offer and I like the idea of a fun racing game and its looks good but dead space remake looks amazing but it's £60-£70, don't know if I to spend the extra money or just go for need for speed unbound and save money

You can look up EA Pass subscription games, which contains other NFS games - not unbound. It's very cheap, so you would have both racing game and Dead Space remake which also you would like. But I bet NFS Unbound is much better than the NFS in the Ea Pass. But worth to consider

Well EA Play is only 3.5$ in my country for 1 month (18.5$ for a year), so dirty cheap. But if youre interested in (and only) NFS Unbound, then up to you. I'm new in PS5 world and didn't play any of these. However I subsribed to EA Play to have cheap NFS which I didnt play yet. And EA Play has even more games, that you can play for free.

Dumb question from someone who's never pre-ordered a game.
A game is coming out next week and I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it, whatever the day 1 user feedback is. So I figured I might as well pre-order it to get the bonus in-game nonsense. I prefer physical copies because I'm an old-fashioned luddite.
If I order it from the world's favourite/most hated rainforest website, which happens to have its own in-game exclusive offer, and the disc arrives on/before/after release day, how do I get the bonus stuff? It can't be included on the disc as how would they distinguish pre-ordered from post-launch? Do I need to install (but presumably I'd be locked out of) the game on/before release day? What if I can't do this, are the pre-order goodies lost for good?
I'm really overthinking this for some free in-game tat, but curious to know the answer.

Hi,
Is PSN across account or console? I was trying to play multiplayer split screen online and it said that both accounts need a PSN network.
Have I understood that correctly that each account within the console needs a PSN account to play two people on one console online?

Do you mean PlayStation Plus? If your main account is set as primary/home and enables game sharing, all other users on that system can play online.

My ps5 controller has been acting up a little and would randomly turn the camera angle in a game upwards for no reason when I’m not even touching it so I just wanted to know if this was a common issue that other people have

Sounds like common controller drifting issue. I dont have this myself (1 week old PS5), but I heard about it alot. Try to research a little about controller drifting

The PS4 physical has the PS5 version upgrade in it. I dont think ps5 physical exists itself
Its also often in sale for 5-20$

Hi, so I finally sold off my PS4 pro and got the PS5 but I need your help on something. I must say, the experience with the ps5 is magical with the controller. like...I got to feel so much from it and it's insane. now the question I have is, what's the difference between buying a ps4 game and a PS5 game if the PS4 game gets upgraded? Say I purchased Hogwarts legacy for the PS4 which cost less and played it on the ps5 since that game gets upgraded to the ps5 version for free and this is disc I'm talking about. So I can just buy the PS4 disc version of the game and play it on the PS5 right? Instead of buying the ps5 disc version as it cost more? Thank you

Make sure the ps4 game does have free upgrade path to ps5. Not many recent games have that, only some older ones that were made for ps4 originally before ps5 even got released

Hogwarts Legacy does not have a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade. If you buy the PS4 disc and play it on PS5, you will be playing the PS4 Pro version of the game at slightly higher frame rates thanks to Game Boost.

Is there really no way to make multiple back-up saves on PS5? I want to create many save files at different points in games, so I can keep coming back to them later. I know I can use PS plus, but this only lets me make one back-up right?

how many save games you can have depends on the game. Some automatically save for you and don't allow you to manually save at all. Some let you have multiple saves (and may differ in how many they allow you to save).
This has nothing to do with back-ups of saves. PS+ has cloud saves. That means it makes a backup of your saves in the cloud (some servers located somewhere on the internet). As far as I know, it backs up all your saves, across all your games.

You can back up the entire console to an external hard drive, but otherwise the game needs to support multiple save files.

If I make a new PSN account on the same PS5 my old account was on, will I keep all my digital games, save data, and trophies?
I am asking because I moved to a different country, and the only way to change the country is to create a new PSN account.

If you enable Console Sharing on your old account, you can access the games from your new one. Save data is restricted to the account it was created for.
The better option is to enable Console Sharing on your new account, use it to make purchases, and play everything on your old account.

I bought the new Dead Space today for my ps5. I have tried 3 different times downloading it and it only goes up to 77% complete and then just says “cannot read game”. The game is brand new out of th package so I’m really confused and frustrated why my system isn’t being able to download this game. I tried all my other games and the system works fine. Plus I have more than enough storage to download it but it specifically stops at 77%

Metro Exodus is leaving PS Plus Extra on 21 Feb. It doesnt have many upgrades, mostly weapons. But worth to consider since it will leave the catalogue soon.

LAGGING CONTROLLERS ON NEW TV
Hey y'all, my controllers are both lagging. I just upgraded to a tv with 1080p and 120hz refresh from 720p and 60hz so idk if it has to do with that. Going through the main menu, it was a fraction behind the button push. Then I tried to play rocket league and everything was so far behind. Buttons, joysticks, even pressing R3 to look behind you would show up after hitting the button. It was near impossible to play!
I don't know how it could be the TV considering I've played on 4k tvs with 240hz refresh and been absolutely stellar! Please could someone help me fix what is going on?

Just to add to other comments. TVs usually have 1 hdmi port that is game mode ready and the other ports dont have it. So check that the port is right and enable whichever type of game mode your tv has.

Ensure you're on the Game picture mode on the TV and that any post-processing features are turned off (such as smooth motion or whatever they may call it)

External drives
I have 2 ps5’s one at home the other in the truck. (So I don’t risk breaking it going back and forth) will there be a issue to use my external on both systems like going home and updating the games and playing at home then going back to the truck and not have to worry about updates as often on the road.

So I installed my 7800 read Corsair SSD and after formatting it says it has a read speed of 6386. Is it being limited by the PS5 itself or did I get a bad drive?

cloud save not working on gta 5
I finished the gta 5 story on my PS5 last year and I didn't delete it from my PS5 but last week I had to factory reset my PS5 hence all my games and saved files were deleted. I downloaded gta 5 again and since I have PlayStation premium membership I also downloaded the save file but unfortunately the game doesn't detect my save file and I had to start from the beginning again in story mode. Does anyone know any fix ?

Hey guys! I just ordered a ps5 from Amazon to be shipped to my local post office (not my house because I don’t trust my neighbours). I’m in Canada. Just wondering if there’s still a craze over these consoles. Will someone from the warehouse try to steal it? Or even the driver? Also, does Amazon put the console in a brown box? I ordered an air fryer that wasn’t in a brown box. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I haven’t had a Sony systems since the ps2.

Does anyone have any solves or links for fixing the controller indicator lights not coming on? Or the orange controller light blinking once then turning off altogether? At first this was just on my new DualSense Edge (worried enough there already) but it’s happening on any of my PS5 controllers. I’ve tried soft resetting them, deleting them from the list of controllers, restarting my PS5 (disc version) etc.
I’m sure this has been asked about or posted about before, but I couldn’t find anything when searching and haven’t had good look with Google (surprisingly).
Any suggestions appreciated ty in advance!!

Yes, you get World of Assassination which includes Hitman 1 and 2 for free.
As of 26 January 2023, the following changes are planned to come into effect.
HITMAN 3 will become ‘HITMAN World of Assassination’, which will also include access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 through our existing Access Pass system. Current HITMAN 3 owners will get a free upgrade to HITMAN World of Assassination on all platforms.

If you see crashes you can use the crash report tool as normal. Include as much information as you can. As for other bugs, you need to use the bug report tool from a web browser. You'll be asked to sign into your PSN account and then you can fill out the form.
If you're not in the US and that link doesn't work for you refer to the email that was sent to you with your invite code. If you got a code from a friend, ask them to link you to the bug report tool.

I’ve never had a video game console
Looking into a ps5 or Xbox or switch my main and most important question is can you remap buttons on the PlayStation or Xbox to make games playable mostly with one hand? For example I only have good fine motor skill on one side

Not with the main controllers since you need the analog sticks in every game
With that said, Xbox has a special controller for accessibility where you can play it with one hand. PS has announced one but it's not out yet. Nintendo does not have one. Those controllers are separate purchases

I actually really liked Odysseys combat, it took Origins combat and imo improved it, and both games the characters are really well done. Imo the world was incredibly fun to explore, the DLC was a blast too. I still need to get around to Origins DLC though because I’ve heard it’s really good too. If both are on ps+ still then try an hour or two of each and stick with the one that impressed you most.

Is anyone else having issues trying to find a Dualsense Edge in Canada?
All the official retailers have said "Out of Stock" since the 26th. I check pretty much every hour, but no change. However, there's absolutely nothing out there saying that there is a shortage? What gives?

Just finished The Last of Us Part 2, and I'm in awe. I have some free time right now and I want to play some more amazing story-heavy games. I'm thinking about playing new God of War or Horizon (loved previous parts of these games), but don't know which to choose. Maybe something different?

Well, I have an PS5, and I want to transfer my TLoU 2 encounters to my iPhone, the only problems is that my PlayStation account has a problem, and I can’t access it on the app, and I don’t have an usb, there’s anyway I can upload it via cable to my phone?

Yes you do, HDMI 2.0 support 1080p 120 hz, but for 1440p or higher 120 hz you will need HDMI 2.1

Hey y’all, new to PS5 and have a question about the controller. Can the haptic feedback stop or break easily? I got the system a few weeks ago and I’m feeling less resistance then when I started. Like it was very noticeable and loved it thought it was really cool. But now I’m not really feeling it. Can someone explain?

First time PlayStation guy, kinda. Family had PS and PS2 when I was a teenager but it wasn't mine.
Got PS5 with GoW: Rag. Ratchet and Clank, Forbidden West, GT7 (I have the PS4 Logitech wheel/pedals I used on PC), NFS Unbound.
I also got a Corsair 1TB M2 SSD.
Will I be good to go? Should I be paying for the PS Plus right away? My thought was to wait until early May and then subscribe to claim those free games. Before they are removed.

Anyone ever have input lag with their PS5 controller? I've been playing Returnal a lot recently, and suddenly there is like a 0.1 sec response delay. Very noticeable on a game that requires split second response time. Controller is fully charged, never had this issue before.

You didn't mention any games you've played, so a bit difficult to say. Generally speaking very efficient use of SSD should theoretically eliminate most pop-in, but the thing is, most PS5 games don't use the SSD even remotely efficiently. RC Rift Apart arguably comes closest, and you really shouldn't notice much pop-in in that game. As for PS4 games that's completely normal, even if played from SSD. You also didn't mention how severe the pop-in is, if you notice distant objectives appearing out of thin air or becoming more detailed that's normal. However, I'd suspect a faulty SSD if the pop-in is very frequent and you notice half the game world not rendering properly or something.

I’ve noticed it in spider-man: miles morales, call of duty modern warfare 2, forespoken demo, vampire: the masquerade bloodhunt, and god of war ragnarök. for spider-man, it was small things in the distance, on fidelity mode, call of duty so far was most noticeable with a larger object in the distance popping in and out when moving back and forth, playing the storymode. since you say it’s normal, could it be possible it’s just more noticeable for me because i play on a larger screen (65 inch)? Just hope I didn’t end up with a faulty ps5, thank you

So I pre-ordered Hogwarts legacy and if I sign into my account on my phone it shows it’s in the download area but if I go to the store on my PS5 it doesn’t look like I bought it. I ordered it in November and haven’t been refunded anything and just want to make sure I don’t have to buy it again

I am currently game sharing with a friend where my console is using his account while his console is using my account. I recently bought a second ps5 to play in the bedroom where as my main ps5 is in the living room. Is there anyway to seamlessly transfer save data between my livingroom and bedroom consoles so I can pick up where I left off. Side Note : My friends account is the one with ps+ active as primary on my livingroom ps5, so im assuming since I play on my own account just using his benefits, I dont have access to cloud saves?

Yeah, if you don't have PS+ you won't get cloud saves so there's no save transfer at all. You'll want to sub to PS+. Or you can do a one off transfer by using the Backup & Restore function on the console to backup everything at once to an external drive and then restore it on the new PS5. You won't be able to do this every time you want to move saves because it wipes whatever is on the console that you're restoring to in the process.

Recently I’ve thought about changing from Xbox 1 to PS5, and, even though this subreddit might be a bit biased, do you think I should? I have quite a few games on my Xbox so I’m also wondering if I should just switch to the Xbox series X. Do you think it would be worth it or should I just stick to Xbox?

Impossible question to answer without knowing what kind of games you play or want to play. Are you interested in JRPGs? In that case you're missing like 95% of all the stuff releasing if you only have Xbox. For Sony exclusives, you'd obviously need PS5 as well. If you don't care about those games, my honest opinion, stay on Xbox. Little reason to switch.

The main reason I was thinking of switching was for some games like The last of us, but I’m not completely sure if it’s all that worth it. My biggest fear with staying with Xbox is that a great game comes out as a Sony exclusive and I can’t play it.

I have both the PS5 as well as the Series X, and it’s a bit of a personal choice.
The Series X is a bit more powerful, though I’ve read besides some games with raytracing, it’s pretty negligible. Gamepass (assuming you subscribe) has a stunning amount of games, and although PS has a fair amount of free games as well; it has nowhere near the volume .
The differentiating perks of a PS5 would be the outstanding haptics and feel of the controller, with the rechargeable battery. Personal preference, but as a console I do love the PS5 more, as I feel the game exclusives are pretty wonderful, and the UI design seems more fluid.

Hogwarts Legacy - how to install add ons?
I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the game and installed it a few hours ago. However, I only got one download, the one for the main game. Usually, the pre-order bonuses and other add ons are downloaded separately from the main game download. Does anyone know if there should have been additional downloads for the other add ons or if everything is in the main one?

Maybe an in-game collection type thing? I haven’t installed mine yet (deluxe edition too) but I’ll see if it does the same and get back to you.

So, can confirm! Been playing for a few hours now, when you load up the game it’ll give you a prompt to claim the items as rewards. Unsure when they become accessible (I forgot what the prompts said) but you claim when you do all the sign in stuff!

Undo having a print screen by every recorded clip.
I have this issue on my PS5, was never the case on PS4. For every clip recorded [mp4 format] once transferred to an external storage device a screenshot is added. Example, Exporting [only] 3 clips to an external storage ends in 3 .mp4 and 3 .jpg files. The mp4 are the clips I wanted to export and the 3 jpg’s a screenshot from a moment of every clip exported. Didn’t have this on my PS4 so I assume is something new and related to the screenshot you can set trough the editor for your clips. Something I never do so quite strange this occurs.
Any way to disable this?

Given Microsoft’s acquisitions, how future proof is ps5? I don’t care at all about psvr and worry how hard Sony will try to find a niche there. Anyone else feel like things could turn pretty quickly for Sony game wise?

I can’t think of a time when Sony’s IP’s have been stronger than they are right now. You’ve got TLOU series, GoW, horizon, Uncharted, among others plus new IP in development. Microsoft’s acquisition strategy is strong but it’s going to take time to turn new games out under that new model. I suspect it will be near end of this gens life cycle before they can make an impact. I just see Microsoft achieving parity at best even in to next gen. Which isn’t a bad thing by any means. Mo content mo betta.

why is it IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone or on a chat? Here is my situation. There were fraudulent charges on my account, and I went through both my bank and PlayStation to get it sorted out, and it did. I was refunded, everything went fine. I wake up today to a "permanent suspension" due to "chargebacks", and I can't get anyone on a phone or a chat (the chat function won't work because my account is suspended). Does anyone know what I can do? I just bought the new dead space game and I can't access plus the links they provide to help me are error 404

Just need another opinion on this. I got a skin for the middle glossy part of the PS5. I applied it correctly for the most part, but I noticed it's not perfectly centered and I can see an mm of this glossy part still. I've left it on for two days now. Should I just leave it or do you reckon I should try realigning it? My concern is if I were to try peeling it off and realigning it after two days then the adhesive may not be as strong and the misalignment is not really super noticeable, but I've got OCD and imperfections like this bother me.

After the latests System Update, my NVME is not being detected anymore. I turned on the console and it said it wasn't turned off properly. It said the NVME was removed and also my external HD. It did try to recover but now my netac nvme 1tb isn't detected anymore.

Just joined the club! Really thankful for PS+ Games catalogue.
Immediately added all the games I liked and queued up these to download in the following order:
- Miles Morales
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Detroit: Become Human
- Judgment
- Cyberpunk 2077
And waiting for Hogwarts Legacy to be delivered! I’m a slow ass gamer so this could take me a whole year to finish all, and you can tell my style of game I guess.
Any others that I should keep in mind/add to the list?
Edit: on the list to buy is Elden Ring next but haven’t really kept up to date with what’s out there

Highly recommend both of the Horizon games. Amazing stories and fun gameplay. Two of the most graphically impressive games I’ve ever played.
Unsure if the first one is on the PS+ catalogue or not but I know the second isn’t. It’s currently on sale but it’s still pretty pricey, better off waiting for a better deal or buying a physical copy if you take your time to play through like you said!
If you ever want to play GoT multiplayer, feel free to hmu.

Hi, I have a question, hope I'll get an answer. I have my ps5 with 3 user accounts and I turned on the 3D audio for TV speakers in one of these 3 accounts, doing the calibration with my ambient. My question is, do I have to repeat the calibration in the other 2 accounts or is it a generic setting which automatically applies on every account?

Hey everyone!
I have a weird issue that I can’t seem to find a solution for.
Every time I start up my PS5 and head to the store, nothing loads. I get a “couldn’t find what you were looking for” message.
Upon going into the network settings and testing my connection, it works, but no previews load.
I have gigabit internet and this issue happens with wired and wireless connections.
Any ideas?

Bluetooth mode has different button mapping on different devices
So on my phone the Bluetooth mode has the controls set to how they are on Playstation, but on my laptop the buttons are jumbled around, ex. X being circle, start being R2 etc. I can't find a way to remap the buttons. How can I fix this? Hitting X causes me to minimize whatever I have open on my screen it's a pain

Go to the game in your library and select it. It should default to the PS5 version but if it doesn't click the ... button next to download and select the PS5 version. It should be the only version that shows since the PS4 version isn't available yet.

My PS5 will no longer work with my Wi-Fi?
Had it since 2 months after release, never had a problem. I moved and it was working perfectly on my Wi-Fi for 2-3 months but now suddenly it won’t stay connected to the internet. All my other devices work with no problem so I don’t understand why my PS5 if struggling.
LAN connection works fine but I can’t keep it hooked up long term due to my setup area. I’ve been having this Wi-Fi problem for about a month now.
Any ideas?
