People commit murders too. I wonder if this guy thinks it is ok to commit murder because other people do it.

It seems to be a small town who’s Norms may be different. A law is only a law when enforced.

58

u/KimLingLing Nov 04 '22

Bros been parking there since 1987 and no one has said a thing? Ahahahahaha

91

u/Intrepid-Sky196 Nov 03 '22

Knox Theatre in the back, looks art deco. Wonder if it still plays films, would be awesome!

Edit: it’s being renovated https://www.warrencountyga.com/knox-theatre-renovation.html

-21

u/louiloui152 Nov 04 '22

It’s a very small town I doubt they have enough money to bring it up to todays standards :(

5

u/thefreakychild Nov 04 '22

Speaking as someone who lives in small town Georgia. In a lot of cases, no. Generally these small theaters have been hanging on by threads for years, and then Covid hit and put a fair amount out of business.

It happened with my local theater. They never had blockbuster movies on release day, but the charm and locally owned aspect of it really helped. A movie, popcorn and a drink would run you only about $15 total.

Unfortunately, Covid hit it hard, and the owner had to sell.

Fortunately, a new transplant to the town with a fair amount of wealth bought it and the building next door and began renovations for the theater and built a passion project automobile museum in the building next door.

Unfortunately, he's been having trouble with staffing the theater consistently because the crowds haven't really returned to watching movies and supporting the local theater. It now sits empty for weeks on end, and reopens for a few days when a new movie comes along.

It sucks, cause the place is even better than before and still has that charm. He even kept the prices very near what they used to be. I saw a movie there a couple months back and only paid $20 in total for the movie, popcorn and a drink.

Small-town theaters are dying, and it's because a lot of people just don't care anymore. I'd see more there if they could open and remain open.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Not just small town.

I live in Atlanta and the local Plaza is constantly raising money to stay open. They are one of the few that shows independent films, cult faves and Rocky Horror Friday nights year around which everyone comes to for the costumes and dancing.

The big theaters killed them with the extra attractions like arcades etc etc and being on main drags.

Locals know about these great local theaters but it’s just not enough. It’s up to us to save them.

2

u/thefreakychild Nov 04 '22

Ah man, I was just up there, had lunch at the Majestic a couple days ago.

I'd be there much more often, but it's almost a 2 hour drive for me now...

2

u/Soft-Preparation1838 Nov 04 '22

Why is this downvoted? Small historic hometown theaters like this die all the time because small towns cannot cobble together the resources to renovate them.

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 03 '22

Not only is he impeding on a wheelchair accessible van from being able to use the spot.. it's probably also blocking the ramp. I'd park right next to him and ding the Fuck outta his car with me door as I try to get into my wheelchair without the proper space.

17

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

[deleted]

2

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 05 '22

I do the same, I just use the van example bc people can more easily visualize how much space a ramp takes and, for me at least, I just need to be able to open my door all the day which I can do in most regular spots.

34

u/No-Education-5864 Nov 04 '22

I really fucking hat people like this geezer in the video like how ableist can people be. I’m disabled so I have a placard to park in a disabled spot but I always try to keep the van accessible spots open since I’m still ambulatory. I’d park so he’d have to climb over his passenger seat to get in and ding the shit outta his car.

4

u/civilwar142pa Nov 04 '22

Too many people have no idea what the space is for. I was at a festival one time and saw someone pull into that spot. I let them know what the spot was meant for and they were stunnedand moved. Idk what they thought it was. But lo and behold a van pulled in a second later and needed the space for a ramp.

Especially at events like that where there are limited disabled parking spots, it pisses me off when people block them.

My great aunt was in a wheelchair most of her life and the amount of times I or another family member had to go and help her from her car because the spots were blocked was maddening. In her later years it took some of her independence. She got a motorized chair but often needed help navigating blocked curb cutouts or shitty sidewalks. It makes me mad just thinking about it.

1

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 04 '22

Yea the downside to electric scooters is that they are heavy and not as nimble in small spaces so they can be hard for soemoem with a disability to use without a little help

2

u/osawalla Nov 04 '22

Too bad we can't give out tickets like we can do a citizen arrest. Very valid points you made.

1

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 04 '22

Yea and like his whole argument is "Well nobody's doing anything about it." YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE DOING IT... YOURE EVERY PART OF THE PROBLEM HERE OCCIFER

-21

u/alannwatts Nov 04 '22

he shouldn't park there or tolerate others using the spot, that being said I wonder if it's a general loading area and they don't want it blocked. I can't see that he's parked in the handicapped space, if that spot was reserved for that purpose wouldn't they paint it solid blue, u can see a ramp at the very beginning of the vid and it appears to be enough for a wheelchair to pass with ease, the auditor never mentions the handicapped issue... we need answers dammit

14

u/jimmy327 Nov 04 '22

The hashed lines beside a handicapped space are considered part of the handicapped space. They are there specifically so vehicles with wheel chair lifts can open and extend out.

If a van with a wheelchair lift were to park in that handicapped space next to him, they would not be able to open the wheelchair lift. Thus the wheelchair would not be able to be loaded or unloaded.

The fine/penalty for parking in the hashed spots beside or between marked handicapped spaces is usually the same as if they parked in the marked space itself.

1

u/alannwatts Nov 05 '22

and u know that for certain, where I live handicapped parking would have to be painted solid blue

1

u/jimmy327 Nov 06 '22

yes. I am.
According to ADA.gov
https://beta.ada.gov/topics/parking/

https://www.ada.gov/restripe.pdf

In every state that I am aware of, the color may differ (some may be blue, some may be white, some may even be yellow) the at least 96" hashed spot beside a van accessible handicapped spot is reserved for wheelchair access for that wheelchair lift equipped van. It does not matter what color the hashed marks are; if they are directly beside a handicapped spot, they are PART of that handicapped spot, and parking in them is illegal. Aside from the 96" spot, a 60" wide hashed spot may be reserved as well for wheelchair access.
a very quick google search for "hashed spot beside handicapped space" will provide a entire slew of resources to support this.

1

u/alannwatts Nov 06 '22

wow dude, what state was the cop in?

1

u/jimmy327 Nov 06 '22

Nah man.

My uncle broke his back when he was 17. I grew up riding in a wheekchair van. Many many times came out of a store and had to stand around for twenty minutes waiting on someone to come out of the store to move their car so we could open the side door so he could get in

Years later I broke my back and neck in Iraq. I’m ambulatory but some days it’s just a bit much. Finding people parked in the handicapped spots at my work (quite often because “oh It’s ok I’m just running in for 5 minutes”) without a tag can be quite frustrating.

But hey. They got to run in real quick without being inconvenienced so there’s that I guess

1

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 05 '22

Different states have different regulations about colors or stripes or signage etc. But you can clearly see the yellow painted curb which is an additional indicator that he shouldn't be there.

Also not all mobility aids are the same. While the average wheelchair users chair may fit, chairs, scooters ,power chairs etc come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so it's important that ample space is provided. Not to mention those who have to have things like oxygen tanks, potable ventilators, etc. Who also need extra room to manuver.

1

u/alannwatts Nov 05 '22

I said he shouldn't park there right at the top, my only thing was why was the spot blocked off

1

u/mrs_spacetime0 Nov 05 '22

I understand that, but you also said it looks like there's enough room for a chair to get through anyways and I just wanted to let you know that may not be true

0

u/alannwatts Nov 06 '22

I agree it may not be true, the person I originally replied to was dead certain it had to be handicapped reserved, and I had some small doubt, so I pointed that out... 3 days later this has gone on longer than needed... have a good one

82

u/FuckoNo5 Nov 04 '22

25 cops surrounded Sterling Brown for parking like that at a Walgreens at 3 am and then beat, tazed, and arrested him.

-21

u/__LastOlympian__ Nov 04 '22

Was that this department?

8

u/magicalmocco Nov 04 '22

Milwaukee pd

96

u/Dudewheresmyduck Nov 03 '22

He seems nice, but yeah that’s illegally parked.

22

u/Dayofsloths Nov 04 '22

I think a nice person wouldn't block a disabled spot for absolutely no reason. There's a difference between not being outright rude and being nice.

2

u/xKazIsKoolx Nov 04 '22

You can be nice and dumb as ass at the same time

0

u/Dayofsloths Nov 05 '22

He's not actually dumb, he's playing dumb. That's not nice.

2

u/Pareidolistic Nov 05 '22

Nice because he speaks slowly without power abuse and sounds like he doesn’t realise what the heck is going on around him? Guy is in the meta verse at this point with his head. Should not be allowed to work in police department.

I couldn't quite see from the vid, was the car blocking the ramp?

4

2

u/MyUsernameIsShitty Nov 04 '22

Probably a stupid question, but why don't all handicap spots have this space?

7

u/Unicorn_Sparkle_Butt Nov 04 '22

Not all of them allow for ramps.

This one does and it seems like the sheriff didn't care about handicapped using this part of the spot. It also puts gramps a lil closer to the front door.

-7

u/Ohiolaxcoach Nov 04 '22

Says someone that doesn’t know me.

3

u/BLINDtorontonian Nov 04 '22

Seem to know you well enough.

15

u/MysteriousBlock6586 Nov 04 '22

Law enforcement without integrity is a conflict of interest. It cannot be laws for thee and not for me. If you wear a badge and you took an oath you are still never above the law you just enforce the law. And this guy clearly said he’s been breaking the law for 30 years. Doesn’t matter if it’s low hanging fruit or not. You can get pulled over for rolling through a stop sign even if no one’s coming for miles. And I’m sure you’ve seen a cop speed or role a stop sign or not use a signal when turning but if your gonna wear the badge and take the oath you have an even higher responsibility of following the law.

-6

u/Ohiolaxcoach Nov 04 '22

I knew that was coming. Whatever

7

u/johnduck Nov 04 '22

Did you just make up a whole story to get upset about?

25

u/Accomplished_Look511 Nov 03 '22

The message between the lines I get is even if its unlawful since we've always done it then it's okay and we're not open to change.

1

u/IM_A_WOMAN Nov 04 '22

It's a tradition at this point. He has a history, it's in his culture to park there. You wouldn't try and infringe on his culture now would you?

37

u/Affectionate-Can5917 Nov 03 '22

Somtimes I wish I was a cop so I could do what ever I feel like whenever I feel like

13

u/Takemetothedumpster Nov 04 '22

Growing up with a cop dad was wild. Red lights and speed limits didn't matter. We got pulled over in his civilian vehicle a lot.

He would just pop open his center console with his badge on display and it would be a wave and a have a nice day!

My dad is 70 now, and still drives like it's GTA and hitting pedestrians are bonus points.

Man crashed his car drunk on a bridge three times in the 80's, within a month. Three. Two of the times he was escorted home by beat cops and the other time he drove the wrecked car home hammered.

I have so many fucking wild cop stories. He told me how to bury a dead body and get away with murder. How they used to beat suspects with phone books and had an Easter bunny costume to do it in so that any witness testimony looked insane. Judges, prosecutors, everyone knew and nobody did anything about it.

Phoenix PD was wildin' back in the 80s and 90s.

11

u/ConflictGrand4078 Nov 04 '22

Sounds like a solid POS

3

u/chamberofcoal Nov 04 '22

wildin... that's a pretty understated comment on your alcoholic piece of shit tyrant cop dad.

2

u/Takemetothedumpster Nov 04 '22

I know right?

Didn't want to go to intense with it but yeah, accurate statement. Of course, according to him, he never participated because he was 'one of the good ones' and the judges and prosecutors would never throw his cases because they knew what an upstanding protectorate of the public he was.

He also hasn't really drank since like the early 2000s. So former alcoholic, and if you ask him about it- never an alcoholic, just drank because his brother died in a tragic semi truck accident and then his mom passed away from breast cancer shortly after. That stereotype about drunk cops beating their wives and kids is spot on though.

But still, anyone raised in a law enforcement family is pretty aware of this shit. I didn't ask for it, but one of the fringe benefits is that when I was younger any kind of traffic stop was just a formality. Head light out? Oh, you're so and so, I know your dad. I'm not out here recklessly driving and shit, but yeah- it's a lot less stressful being pulled over for stupid shit like that.

Even had a guy pull me over once because that plastic piece that holds your gas cap was sticking out of where the metal swings in, and it was "more than six inches from the vehicle," and clearly a danger to my fellow citizens on the road. Saw my ID, have a great day.

If anyone wants stories, I got stories lol.

1

u/TheLittleGremlinMan Nov 06 '22

Fuck yea, tell me a story. What’s the craziest story your dad ever told you

1

u/Takemetothedumpster Nov 07 '22

The craziest? Probably Waco. My dad was an ATF supervisor the next state over in the 90s, so they pulled him and some other high ranking fed agents from neighboring state departments. The way he described it really showed that mentality that cops have where it doesn't matter if it's legally right, it matters if they say it's right.

He had no remorse- they were nut jobs stockpiling illegal guns, abusing children, and shooting at innocent government officials just checking out the property. He didn't see anything wrong with the end result that essentially burned children alive, and said that they had to do what was needed to protect the public. Yesh.

1

u/Takemetothedumpster Nov 07 '22 edited Nov 07 '22

Oh one more! Most of them are really depressing out of an SVU episode with a side dish of police brutality, but this one is pretty funny.

My dad was uncover trying to infiltrate the Hell's Angel's here and they got pulled over by a beat cop. The guy my dad was with had cocaine in his center console, and told my dad to take it and stash it. My dad put it in his pocket like an idiot.

Queue to them being searched, my dad being put in a squad car while claiming those weren't his pants, and he had to quietly explain in the squad car that he was a fed. They had to haul him in anyway for appearances, but he said that it completely fucked up everything because it's not like he could magically show up again and not have this whole lie about getting jammed up and being out on bail.

My dad always jokes that his pants are his, and apparently is a common tactic for 'idiots' getting busted with drugs. It's my buddy's cousins unknown brothers pants.

Also, he told me about a drug bust while in DEA for magic mushrooms. He told me they had to handle them with gloves because they can absorb through the skin and cause you to trip.

I laughed so hard, not a good move. He was like why are you laughing, and what do you know about drugs?

Way more than cops apparently.

One of my favorite things I own is this shitty plastic cup celebrating their biggest weed bust in history in the 90s that my Dad got for being part of the DEA raid. It looks so comically corporate and is so circle jerky. I'll take a pic and share it.

1

u/TheLittleGremlinMan Nov 07 '22

Your dad seems like a bit of a dick but the guy just needs a good acid trip like most cops do, thank you for sharing bro

1

u/Takemetothedumpster Nov 07 '22

Anytime!

Guy just eats a lot of weed gummies now and he's chilled out a bit.

7

u/memorygardens Nov 04 '22

First off, fuck this dinosaur. Second, whole god damn parking lot is empty. Literally spaces 5 feet away. Fuck this dude

6

u/ToothpickInCockhole Nov 04 '22

Isn’t the point of that space so a person in a wheelchair can get out of their car? I understand the lot isn’t full right now but over 35 years I’m sure this dude has fucked over some handicapped people before.

20

u/WestImpression Nov 04 '22

Rules for me, but not for thee.

35

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 03 '22

Breaking the law just comes so naturally for this scum bag cop. I wonder how many crimes he's commited in his career.

6

u/RowNice9571 Nov 04 '22

But people always commit crimes

6

u/Kortemann Nov 04 '22

Is a parking violation really enough to label someone as a scum bag? He acted respectful and nice during the whole video, and it wasn’t exactly a busy parking lot. I didn’t get a bad impression of him honestly.

1

u/Prometheus2012 Nov 04 '22

What you say makes it worse. Plenty of space to not fuck over someone who life has already fucked over. Has done it for decades and still has never considered that someone else might need it and he's being illegally selfish. The entitlement is off the fucking charts.

-4

u/gNomad88 Nov 04 '22

He's not a scumbag, that cop is actually acting very respectfully and polite, I feel bad for him.

5

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

Why was he breaking the law?

Why was crime so natural for him?

Why didn't he get a ticket?

How many other crimes has he committed?

-2

u/Friendly_Edgar Nov 04 '22

Possibly a small town by the looks of it where this sort of low level parking disruption isn't bothered with. It's not like he's parked up somewhere dodgy in Times Square or a busy city centre.

Normally not one to take the side of the plod in these videos but he seemed alright.

4

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

So you won't answer.

1

u/kleinepoepjes Nov 04 '22

Bruh the man is just parking like a idiot since the 80s but how does that make this grandpa a scum bag cop lol. He seemed respectful while being filmed.

8

u/SkalexAyah Nov 04 '22

People shoot people. People crime. People do.

2

u/Radiation___Dude Nov 04 '22

Been doing it for 35 years. Nothings ever done or said

1

u/pieredforlife Nov 04 '22

The police has been sleeping on the job for that long

3

u/Mdnitesnack Nov 04 '22

Just give the old man a handicap plate and a wooden gun.

3

u/thecameron26 Nov 04 '22

He's been parking there since before the ADA, back when it was a parking space

3

u/TieWebb Nov 04 '22

What a shame that for 35 years the wheelchair van parks in the correct spot and can’t unload with the side ramp because of this asshole sheriff.

7

u/Euphorium Nov 04 '22

“When I parked there, the court was packed” you’re the sheriff, make your own designated parking spot. You’ve had 35 years to get a sign made. Shit ain’t rocket surgery, old timer.

4

u/Bulky_Manufacturer58 Nov 04 '22

Damn man it looks like only 10 people live in the whole city what’s the big deal

12

u/vauhnphillips Nov 04 '22

That’s some old ass white privilege on full display for ya. And yes, I’m white.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Don’t know why race is needed in this.

It’s entitled behaviour. Something all people are capable of showing. Especially elderly people. Regardless of race.

9

u/YoureARedditorRaiden Nov 04 '22

A black cop would have arrested themself.

2

u/genitalelectric Nov 04 '22

I'm parking a county vehicle, so even if I get called on this, it's the county's bill. Which is why I will never get a ticket for this. It's good to be the sheriff

A better question would be: if a van pulls into that handicapped space, and needs the ADA marked clearance so a quadriplegic driver can get out, are you gonna stop using the N-word in "polite" company, or start cracking down on statutory rape cases?

2

u/bendabbington Nov 04 '22

Freedom for me but not for thee

2

u/Intelligent_Current5 Nov 04 '22

I never understood. Why people always like to tell cops random shit, like bro keep walking stop giving everyone shit for not living by the book. There’s an old saying “before counting sins of others, start with yourself you won’t even reach others”.

1

u/joker_toker28 Nov 05 '22

Cops will gladly point out the MOST MUNDANE SHIT. Theres sooooo many open spots yet he picked the ONE place you aint supposed to park.

Police the police i say lol.

2

u/Turbulent-Local317 Nov 04 '22

That white area is for the handicapped to have space for wheelchairs etc. His old ass will soon understand

9

u/Bitter_Coach_8138 Nov 04 '22

I mean, if they legit aren’t giving other people tickets for parking there I don’t see the big conflict of interest/hypocrisy?

6

u/MysteriousBlock6586 Nov 04 '22

What about the person who wants to get out and is handicapped and in a wheelchair or motorized chair

-1

u/MyUsernameIsShitty Nov 04 '22

I agree, he's too close to the other parking spot.

Would it be acceptable to you if he was parked closer to the curb, away from the handicap spot?

0

u/MysteriousBlock6586 Nov 04 '22

Yo honestly that’s hilarious. And I mean although definitely still an abuse of power, would make him less of an ass if he gave them room

3

u/MyUsernameIsShitty Nov 04 '22

Seriously though, if he's not blocking anyone else, is it really that big a deal he's parked on the white lines?

Of course it's technically wrong that he's breaking the parking rules, but if nobody's enforcing it, and after 35 years as Sheriff in a town of 12 people, I don't see it as a big deal.

Is there even a disabled person in this little rustbelt village?

And I say this as a crippled person with 2 fucked up legs and a nearly-broken back.

2

u/MysteriousBlock6586 Nov 04 '22 edited Nov 04 '22

I say this as someone with a criminal Justice degree/ and a cop. Is there not a major trust issue between the public and police right now? To me it doesn’t matter how small the infraction. you take an oath and you wear a badge to serve and protect your public community. I come from small town of 3,000 people not as small as some other rural US towns but small none the less. Sure it’s not a big deal. I’m not saying it’s a big deal. But me personally I could not go about doing things illegally regardless of the size of town or area I’m policing. It’s your job and responsibility as law enforcement to always have the utmost integrity or otherwise your just a hypocritical cop and why trust s hypocrite. I choose not to live my professional and personal life that way.

1

u/Deleena24 Nov 04 '22

By "people" he means him and some fellow officers, not just anybody.

0

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

Source on them not giving tickets? Show me your evidence proving that no one is getting ticketed in this town.

3

u/Bitter_Coach_8138 Nov 04 '22

If, I said if. He says in the video he’s not giving others tickets for it. If that’s true I don’t see the big deal.

Show me your evidence

God shut the fuck up.

-1

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

So you just made up a story, hoping.

1

u/Bitter_Coach_8138 Nov 04 '22

You’re a literal dingleberry

0

u/Advice2Anyone Nov 04 '22

Yeah that would be my zinger of a question "If I parked like this would you be giving me a ticket?" regardless of the answer and whether he lies to save face it would make him really think for a bit I bet.

1

u/Bitter_Coach_8138 Nov 04 '22

Did you even watch the video you dingus?

4

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Sheriff: I've been breaking the law for 35 years

3

u/prefectart Nov 04 '22

fuck both of these people because you can literally park in one of the multiple stalls six feet away. solve the problem and move on with your lives Jesus you two are exhausting

3

u/mikey-likes_it Nov 04 '22

All those open spots and he parked there. Entitled boomer

2

u/Mackheath1 Nov 04 '22

The dramatic pan (sweep?) view of the completely empty parking spaces next to it. Unbelievable.

1

u/No_Section868 Nov 04 '22

He should give himself a ticket and that’s it. After three tickets he has to tow himself, easy solution.

1

u/bwahmanga Nov 04 '22

this man dont look like a police officer he just looks like a grandpa with a gun lmao

0

u/Lithoweenia Nov 04 '22

I think we’ve got bigger fish to fry

I left this video siding with the sheriff. This is a small town and the parking lot is probably mostly empty all the time. This guys just a smartass trying to go viral by catching a cop breaking the rules. The cop handled it with class though. I hate people who make a situation out of nothing.

How is the wheelchair bound person supposed to get out of their vehicle if the government is parked in their space? He literally can park 6 feet away and been in compliance. If it was you the cop would have written you a ticket.

u/Powderkeg314 Nov 04 '22

This isn’t a major city it’s a small town. There’s probably few times where this parking lot is even half full.

3

u/Trumperekt Nov 04 '22

There’s probably few times where this parking lot is even half full.

And yet this cop decides to park in an illegal spot, lol.

-1

u/Powderkeg314 Nov 04 '22

Precisely because there’s no one who gives a shit parking there haha. I didn’t realize there were so many parking attendants in this sub haha.

1

u/Trumperekt Nov 04 '22

Hahahaha, fuck all the people that follow rules.

3

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

So you think cops should be allowed to break any law they want?

3

u/Powderkeg314 Nov 04 '22

No obviously… but if you grew up in a small town you’d realize that parking is barely enforced because there are rarely moments when parking lots are full. This is making a mountain out of a mole hill because this guy wants to go viral.

1

u/kleinepoepjes Nov 04 '22

He didn't even say anything remotely like that 😂

-26

u/Earth2Mike Nov 03 '22

Who gives a fuck guy really let this ole man park sideways there is no one in the whole fucking lot.

7

u/Hicrayert Nov 04 '22

I do, dad is handy capped and needs the extra space dingus. Even if the lot is currently empty it doesn't mean that if you park somewhere that someone wont park right next to you. That is what those (do not block) lines are for. It guarantees that the spot remains unblocked.

1

u/Affectionate_Song776 Nov 04 '22

True, who cares . Park anywhere else , fucking bitchin cunts

Yeah people take all the fun out of this things. This town looks slow as shit.

I am gazing into my crystal ball and picture getting off the highway while traveling to get gas and driving through a town like this.

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

These auditing dipshits are the worst

2

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

What is your opinion on the mass amounts of criminal cops they exposed?

1

u/ImminentZero Nov 04 '22

Yeah, fuck holding public officials accountable to the citizenry and the law!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

its an empty parking lot in bumfuck country, no one is affected by this

1

u/ImminentZero Nov 04 '22

How does that justify not holding the person responsible for enforcing laws to the same fucking standard they apply to everybody else?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

No one would give a shit if this happened in an empty parking lot no matter who it was

1

u/ImminentZero Nov 04 '22

Do you not actually have any first principles? Doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking, is what we MUST expect from people in a position of public trust.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

there is nobody affected by this action. literally no one. nothing wrong was done here, because no one is affected. also you are misusing the term first principles, that's not what it means

the wrong thing in this situation is bothering a person who is not affecting anyone, acting outraged to rope other outrage addicts into clicking their video for monetary gain

1

u/ImminentZero Nov 04 '22

also you are misusing the term first principles, that's not what it means

"the fundamental concepts or assumptions on which a theory, system, or method is based" is the definition given by the Oxford dictionary.

Can you explain why you think I'm misusing the term in this case? To my mind, a first principle vis a vis the law and its enforcement, would be that it is enforced regardless of who it is or whether there's a victim. Whether there should be victimless "crimes" is a different discussion, but as society has deemed them acceptable at this point, they should be enforced accordingly.

nothing wrong was done here, because no one is affected

The law was violated. Many traffic and vehicle statutes don't require a victim in order to be violated, but that doesn't change the fact that they were violated. As far as whether something wrong was done here, that's a value judgement, and I'm not making that judgement. My concern is with the fact that the law was violated, and that you seem to be okay with not holding public officials accountable for their actions. I'm trying to understand why that might be.

If you're arguing that nobody should be ticketed in that situation as long as the parking lot was empty, that's one thing. If you're arguing that the sheriff shouldn't be ticketed, that's another. Personally I'd argue that most victimless crimes shouldn't exist at all, but that if a law exists then enforcement should be universally applied.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

first principle is a basic assumption you build a theory off of. the law isn't built upon "do the right thing when no one is looking". It's not about morality, which you seem to be suggesting

yes, nobody should be ticketed. they usually aren't. the sheriff even says so in the video, that no one cares. this auditor just needed content, so he went finding something that was hurting no one that he could capitalize on

There are some good auditor videos that show legitimate abuses but 90 percent of them are people creating public disturbances or making people feel uncomfortable or just bothering people doing their job and then acting innocent afterwards

-7

u/SarniaMelee Nov 04 '22

Was that the officers car? Where I live police, ambulance, fire etc are all exempt from the parking regulations. Doesn't make it right but it might not be illegal.

u/cassette_nova Nov 04 '22

Ole Sheriff Crusty Gums

0

u/KurtzGuitar Nov 04 '22

Jesus, have people got nothing better to do than follow other people around annoying them in the US? Is the job market that bad?

0

u/LifeSnow7814 Nov 04 '22

I actually like this Sheriff. He’s funny 😂

0

u/DarthDregan Nov 04 '22

"Oh no, young man. I'm a republican. Those rules are for YOU."

-30

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Who fucking cares?

Peepaw ain’t hurting a soul. He is doing his thing. If he was bothering someone or causing a problem it would be one thing but this is stupid.

15

u/JoBenSab Nov 04 '22

Until someone comes along who needs to unload a wheelchair.

-9

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Because I saw 3 cars circling looking for that exact spot.

2

u/Ill-Organization-719 Nov 04 '22

Why was crime so natural for this cop?

How many times has he broke the law

Why haven't any cops done anything about him?

1

u/tkwastaken Nov 12 '22

who fucking cares about you? you're a piece of shit human thinking you have all power to be a troll behind a phone... bet you wouldn't act this way to anyone in public because you're truly a coward.

1

u/HoodieGalore Nov 04 '22

”well…that’s how we always done it…and that’s how I’m gonna keep doin’ it…what are you gonna do about it?”

1

u/chillbnb Nov 04 '22

Ignorant liar.

1

u/thereptileroom Nov 04 '22

This is why auditors are so important

1

u/Grazthum Nov 04 '22

The parking lot was so full that was the only place he could park

1

u/dungl Nov 04 '22

could be a lot worse

1

u/czerys Nov 04 '22

People killing each other that's not an excuse

1

u/showmiaface Nov 04 '22

Does anyone else think that the police should set an example of how to park and drive???

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Somewhere there's some European bank robber smoking a cigarette looking at reddit in the dark going "bingo."

1

u/d_e_l_u_x_e Nov 04 '22

Just a good old boy, hanging out in the handicap parking, because he can. I’m sure he’s apart of the party of “law and order”

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Wtf retire you old fuck. Jesus you can’t be law enforcement. You’re on Medicaid already

1

u/Orquesan Nov 04 '22

Idnit? Yesssir.

1

u/osawalla Nov 04 '22

I almost would love it if he filmed himself parking there. We all know he would get a ticket and then he could pull out the video and be like hmmm watch this shit.

1

u/DoubleAgent07 Nov 05 '22

Leave him alone. He's just trying to collect his pension.

1

u/canigooutsidesoon Nov 10 '22

Glad we solved all the other problems and can focus on this.
