Donald Trump is asking supporters to boycott all elections. I 100% support this strategy. Satire. But totally sounds like something he would say.

It’s funny and all, but Trump supporters are gearing up for a civil war. A “Christian Spring”. If they don’t vote and keep voicing their lies about the election process, a lot of them will end up radicalized and people will die. Maybe they’ll succeed in violently gaining power and usher in the hell they seem to want.

408

u/Iheardthatjokebefore Oct 06 '22

We do need to be acutely aware that "boycott elections" could very well just mean "perform terrorist attacks on polling places." Time to put Hanlon's Razor to bed.

242

u/raymond8505 Oct 06 '22

Hanlons razor is for when you don't have evidence one way or the other. We have plenty of evidence that right wingers do right wing violence

137

u/serendipitousevent Oct 06 '22

Sure, but only if you count that one ginormous example and those tens of thousands of little examples before and after.

Notice how they're strengthening this perceived connection between the reader and the "slate" of electors they vote for. I.e. If They "fraudulently" reject the (GOP-legislature-approved) "slate" that YOU voted for, then that is a personal violation against YOU.

5

u/DarthWeenus Oct 07 '22

His rallies have been getting scary, calling for killing drug dealers and gay/trans people. I mean I don't ever see a real civil war ever happening, I don't think the numbers evenake sense, but I could see a lot of lil Timothy McVeighs happening, especially against minorities/gay/marginalized people or Democrat officials, polling places. Enough to scare the fuck out of everyone.

19

I really wish we would switch to a ranked choice system.

21

u/Tomagatchi Oct 07 '22

That would mean the two parties with all the power would have to give up their power on purpose. Even if someone ran on that platform, they'd need enough other party members and also need to keep their promises. That's a lot of "ifs".

43

u/TehWackyWolf Oct 06 '22

This was my point. They lost the last election and it didn't matter. Why does it matter if they win or lose the next one, they're going to be violent fools either way.

21

u/Prestigious-Owl165 Oct 06 '22

I'm sure this isn't what you meant but it definitely matters if they win or lose the next one lol

23

u/TehWackyWolf Oct 06 '22 edited Oct 06 '22

I guess let me rephrase. It doesn't matter if they lose. They'll just say they won and still be violent. If they win, then fuck they won..

The result 100% does not matter to them. Either way, they're going to claim they won and be violent fools.

Have you seen footage of a Trump rally? I'm not sure Meal Team Six has what it takes to seriously challenge the US military. With that said, I don't mean to be entirely flippant here. They could certainly hurt people. But I don't think we have to worry about them posing an actual threat to the US government. The bigger threat to democracy right now is the looming Supreme Court decision that might allow state legislatures to just give electoral votes to any candidate they want. Then if Trump runs again, he "wins" in 2024 without needing more than 40% of the vote.

17

u/wherringscoff Oct 06 '22

Unfortunately, Meal Team 6 could absolutely pose a major threat to the US. Idk if youre old enough to remember Vietnam, but it was literally impossible to tell who was the enemy and who was just a regular guy until they pointed a gun at you. They can't just go into a town, mop up the maga people, and go about their day. And how many of the military will even be willing to do it? Kind of hard to make all of them go and open fire on the very people they signed on to protect. They shouldn't pose a real threat to the us government and yet they practically waltzed right into the capitol building with nearly zero resistance, with plans to assassinate Pelosi. There were armed and trained personnel on site and yet they didn't stop them from just walking in. Its absolutely fucking terrifying tbh, how dangerous it could actually be if it came to it.

What was it ol' Lindsey Graham said back in 2016? If we nominate Trump we will get destroyed, and we will deserve it? Well they hitched their wagon to the wrong horse, and it's currently dragging the whole party to a watery hell.

199

u/beyondclarity3 Oct 06 '22

I disagree on McConnell, his entire mission the last 20 years has been control of the Supreme Court by any means necessary and he’s done it. He took the longview on the courts and is winning.

73

u/HeadFullOfNails Oct 06 '22

Not just the Supreme Court. Judges at all levels. He has been quite successful, especially with Trump as president.

Mitch probably also hand chose all the federal judges during Trump’s presidency. Mitch got what he wanted. He’s an evil political genius.

He's just an opportunist. When McCain was alive he was best buds with him because of McCain's status, tenure, and reputation. Then Trump marginalized McCain and Graham started to distance himself. Once McCain was dead Lindsey needed a new brand to align himself with lest he himself became the marginalized one. Fortunately for him that maga world will ignore your past as long as you pledge undying fealty to Trump.

When maga dies out look for Lindsey to latch onto whoever emerges from the power vacuum, if he's still around.

This is a threat to republicans so they can do his bidding. So while yes, it sounds like he’s threatening for people to stay home what he’s really saying is “people with expertise and positions of power, do what I say or you won’t be in office much longer”, which is what these people want more than anything, to be in power. Edit: spelling

u/capchaos Oct 06 '22

I think it's a smokescreen to give Democrats a false sense of security. He's gambling that if he says this Democrats will relax and some won't vote because they think trumpers aren't voting and they themselves don't need to vote. Republicans/trumpers/teabaggers always vote...every time.

I remember a theory back before trump got elected that;

There were 2 time travelers from the future, one sent to destroy our world and the other to save it.

This theory stated that the 2 travelers were Donald trump and Elon musk.

Back then the hero seemed to be Elon and the villain Trump.

Now, with all the work trump is doing to keep the nuts from voting and forcing America to look at it's dark underside... He might be the "good" needed to save the world from a darker fate

In 50 years we may see that Trump actually steered us in the right direction. It woke up a lot of people and flipped many from conservative to liberal, including my wife, because he's just so bat shit insane.

My wife literally went from "maybe Trump isn't so bad, let's give him a chance" to "omg, I can't even stand the sight of him" in just a couple years of listening to him. She also went from being a pro-life conservative to a pro-choice vote blue no matter who, and we have Trump to thank for that. She can't be the only one who flipped because of Trump.

Not religious at all and Ive given this serious, repeated consideration as well. As far as I know, isnt the Antichrist less of a demonic ideal and more of a "great deciever" type, meant to lead many astray? Almost a Sauron type from the early stages?

10

u/maggotshero Oct 06 '22

Depending on what you read, yeah. In some texts the Anti-christ is literally the spawn of Satan, in other texts he's more like satan-adjacent and is just full of lies and deceit, meant to lead people away from the light, but yeah, there's definitely a version of the AC that does insanely fucked up stuff.

McConnell deserves the credit for that. Trump just passed along the names that were handed to him by the federalist society. McConnell made the confirmations happen by refusing Garland a hearing, eliminating the filibuster, and then rushing Barrett through before Ginsburg’s body was even cold.

Don’t forget to post incessantly about how boycotting the election will never work and and that they’re idiots for considering it. The contrarian in them will take over.

49

u/american_dimes Oct 06 '22

Yes, and as a liberal I think it's a terrible, awful idea for them to do. Please, conservatives, whatever you do, don't boycott elections. I would feel so owned if you were to not vote next month. That would show me.

u/Shoresy69Chirps Oct 06 '22

THIS is the correct solution.

Orange man himself said it. Keep repeating it until they believe.

It sounds like something he would say.

I scrolled through that sub and still am not sure if it's satire or serious.

I just need someone to keep asking "If you think the election is stolen, why bother voting? Sounds like a waste of time!"

Just keep repeating the fake news, its been working for the MAGAsshole demographic for years

It's barely fake. He took down his news blog on his website, but archive has it: https://archive.ph/Or3VD

They’re dumb enough to buy into this strategy.

755

u/textro Oct 06 '22

No, it's genius. God, they are stickin' it to my libs, so hard.

329

u/ShittheFickup Oct 06 '22

Ouch, my libs!

162

u/Pithius Oct 06 '22

Right in the libs! Every time

94

u/mintBRYcrunch26 Oct 06 '22

I can just feel the owning washing over me. So much owning.

51

u/warpenguin55 Oct 06 '22

I have never been this owned in my life

14

u/cdoswalt Oct 06 '22

So much owning you'll get tired of all the owning.

4

u/DarkwingDuckHunt Oct 06 '22

Hey why don't I flip over and you try owning my lib a different way?

4

u/itsshortforVictor Oct 06 '22

They’ve owned me so hard, I can’t walk right anymore.

Simultaneously believing the only way you can lose is fraud and refusing to vote should be proof enough we live in a simulation.

93

u/pharmacofrenetic Oct 06 '22

No, No!

It's a brilliant strategy. There is nothing they could do that would own the libs more than boycotting the election.

We need to make sure that they never ever do this .

We would be so owned if they never voted again

Remember when he encouraged his voters not to do mail in ballots in 2020, and it bit him on the ass haha.

13

u/Pho-k_thai_Juice Oct 06 '22

I actually think that was his plan or at the very least an advisor's plan, by doing that he basically gave credence to the idea of the election was stolen to his idiot fanbase. They probably knew after how badly he botched the pandemic and all of his other controversies that only the diehard insane cultist tier people would stay so they would have to try to drum up a lot of controversy.

Plus he was always a sore loser too, he literally said he would have gotten more votes in 2016 if it wasn't for all the fraud despite winning.

It is, spiritually: A year ago, he said NOT voting in 22 and 24 was the "single most important thing for republicans to do"

https://archive.ph/Or3VD

If we don’t solve the Presidential Election Fraud of 2020 (which we have thoroughly and conclusively documented), Republicans will not be voting in ‘22 or ‘24. It is the single most important thing for Republicans to do.

I mean, it's perfectly believable. He did it before, and that's part of why Warnock won.

Ok I'll just tell you what I mean.

Perfect, let's dare them they won't follow through to so they could "own the libs"

120

u/raistlin65 Oct 06 '22

And then when they lose from not voting, they'll complain that the Democrats cheated.

55

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '22

Now you're getting it

44

u/raistlin65 Oct 06 '22

It's the Republican way. Lie in the moment. Regardless of the past.

26

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '22

You forgot declare everyone who points out the hypocrisy "communist" or "anti American", but otherwise that's it

25

u/IDK_WHAT_YOU_WANT Oct 06 '22

Your honor, they cheated!

How?

They voted

This dude can just bully, intimate and publicly interfere in open cases with immunity. He can publicly commit crimes such as treason and then have the case heard by people who are in debt to him, if they don’t agree he’s above the law he can appeal to the highest court in the land which is also packed with people in debt to him. I don’t even have a point to this it’s just beyond crazy how far out of control things have gotten.
