My baby is leaving this Earth today. I’m heartbroken Mourning/Loss
It’s time to say goodbye to my elderly cat after 21 years. I’m devastated. I can’t be there because I’m in another country and I feel like heartbroken.
Please hug your babies extra tight ❤️🩹

My 14 year old boy looks just like him. I learned he is a Nebelung. Look ot up. They live a long time. He was very lucky and loved xo

Wow! I’ve never know what he is! I got him when I was 16 from a pet store (before I was educated on pet stores) and the guy that worked there wasn’t sure what he was either. He said he was a Russian blue but he looks nothing that.
*edit - I just saw a pic of your boy and he really looks like mine. Itt’s wild. I had no idea what he was the whole time !

Same I never knew either. And yes they are part Russian blue. Rare breed. Nebelung means "creature of the mist" in German. The wiki page on it is an interesting read and described my boy to a tee. Very smart and loyal. You were very lucky to have him xo I'm sorry for your loss xo

You are so sweet and I’m very grateful for the wonderful comments in this thread. It’s been very helpful. I feel extremely lucky to have him and he will be taken care of till the end. We have the vet coming home so we won’t have to further stress him.
I will be reading about the cat breed. I’m still amazed. Thank you for making me smile and teaching me something about my boy 💜

I had to say goodbye to my own blue Floof back in January. He was 18.5. It’s so incredibly heartbreaking, especially considering it’s such a huge chunk of our lives. My condolences to you. 💜

He looked at me with that adoration for the entirety of his life. I always wondered what I did to deserve that much unconditional adoration and trust.
It was either adoration and trust, or he was under the impression that maybe I was a walking, talking plate of gooshy food. :7944:

Everyone on here losing their cats and for some reason now I'm stressing out about the inevitable day my 2 yr old boy crosses the rainbow Bridge why is this happening :( so sorry about your loss. I've known many awesome cats throughout my life and sadly a lot of them have also said their goodbyes, I know it's hard but he will be up there watching over you along with everyone else you love who may not be with us anymore.

I completely understand the stress about the inevitable. They’re like a mirror as well. I’ve been stressing about this for years and it didn’t stop it. It’s amazing how the time disappears.
Hold your boy and enjoy every moment. You will be strong enough when the time comes 💜

UPDATE: Thank you all for you kind words. He passed quickly and peacefully on 26 May at 2:18pm AEST. I’m in the US and it happened at 12:18am EST. He was wrapped in a blanket and held by my sister. He was ready and barely lifted his head. I’m so grateful that my sister was there when I couldn’t. Also, I’m so grateful to the nurse who came to our house. They both spoke to him the whole time. He was loved by us all and I know he knew that till the end.
I wish I could respond to everyone but I’m very emotional so I’m going to take a break. Thank you all again 🌈🥹❤️🩹

I’m so sorry😔I lost my boy on Tuesday after 17 years. It is always hard but when they’ve been a part of your life for so long… man. It just sucks. Nothing I say can make it suck less, but thank you for sharing him with us- he is so handsome!

I've lost 2 cats so far one was named tasselhoff after my mom and dads favorite characters in dragon lance and my other cat fixban was also named from their favorite characters in the same book series. Tass was a main coon who died of stomach cancer, and fixban had a stroke. At school I was dreading to come home and hear that fizzy passed away. And I came home and I was devastated and still am. This summer we are getting 2 new main coon kittens. But it's always sad to lose a friend as special as a cat

It really hurts to lose your pet especially when you consider it a family. It's also hard to move on when you take care of the one you've lost and been with for a long time. Condolences to you.

I am so very sorry your boy is beginning a new journey soon. It’s difficult to let them go when they have been such a huge part of your heart/life! Grief is a heavy weight and when you let tears flow, the weight lessens. When days or nights get so lonely and your memories flow over your heart, sit still, eyes closed and picture this:
Your sweet boy running through a sunny meadow where butterflies soar from flower to flower and Bluebirds sing their happy song! Your boy stops chasing a beautiful blue butterfly, turns and looks at a path leading to the meadow. He thinks, “She’s not coming yet, but one day she’ll come get me and we’ll both walk over the Rainbow Bridge together into Heaven!”
Happy with that thought, he walks through the sweet green grass to another cat sleeping in the shade of a huge sunflower. Her name is “Lily” and she is a crème and soft grey cat. Your boy has found a friend until you and he meet again. He looks one more time at the path and thinks “One day” then curls up next to Lily…and purrs softly. Lily’s eyes open and she nuzzles him, then curls up with her head next to his, purring. They nap together dreaming kitty dreams. Your boy knows one day he will be united with his dearest friend — you — as they happily purr into dreamland!
