my God that cat is the twin to mine. also super calm
we have to get him shaved one time at a vet and when we went to pick him up they didn't even charge us because he just sat there and let them do it

We have cats from a stray mother. They are massive, fluffy, and very docile as well. Sometimes wonder if they might be part ragdoll!

Exactly 😊 you can pick them up and they’re just like a rag doll, they’ll just go limp and won’t fight much, unless you’re messing up his coat too much..

Raggies are a larger breed. Not the biggest but up there
when we went to the breeders to get ours their main breeding male (Bashir) was sitting on the coach arm. He was sitting and he was the full length of the armrest

our current 2 were the only time we have ever used a breeder as I generally disagree with them. We used a breeder because we lived in a unit at the time and wanted a breed that I knew was good inside
the breeder was legit though. That woman lived for her cats and was very clean and gave us full access to see her operation. if she hadn't we would not have gone with her
My plan was to go back to rspca cats next time but she breeds Norwegian forest cats now and the level of cuteness is going to make it very very hard

The main problem with shelters here in the UK is that they either never respond or decide you are not worthy of a cat so people just land up getting one from a breeder. I called a shelter first, but wasn't holding my breath as a friend had jut been through the painful process of adopting a cat through a shelter and just never heard from them.

I got my young cat from an SPCA in New Zealand. It was very easy but it was the day before the first lock down and they were trying to empty it out.

I'm always shocked when I see a cat tolerating a bath. Every cat I've ever had turned into a cross between General Grievous and a woodchipper if you carried them within 6 ft of water. And this includes the one who was in every other respect the sweetest cat I've ever met :p
Your Marshmallow seems like a very lovely feline companion :-)

My cat would never be so calm, especially if you’re running the faucet with her in the tub. She will yowl and claw to get out. The few times we’ve had to give her a bath, she HATED it with the fire of 1,000 suns.
Luckily, she’s very good at self-grooming, so we only bathe her if absolutely necessary.

That’s one well behaved cat 😍, mine had an overnight stay at the vets… they had to unbolt the sleeping cage and bring her home in it because no one would reach in and get her 🤣

Oh a sweet baby! This is my ragdoll, but she doesn’t bathe well since she was gifted to me from a backyard breeder and needed a lot of TLC to get like this. So many poop disasters have resulted in many booty baths over the last 2.5 years 😅

6.8 kilos at the minute, he’s just over a year and a half now, from what I’ve read they’re fully grown at around 4 years though so he could get a little bigger.. he’s been on a diet too and the vet says he’s around a healthy weight now. It probably took about a year until he was a big fluff ball.

Our last appointment ours was about 2.5kg at 5 months. I can’t wait to see what she’s at when we take her in in January. She’s airway pretty fluffy

For ragdolls it’s recommended to bath them every 4-6 weeks to keep their coat clean, so that’s how often he gets bathed 😊

He is surprisingly gentle in the bath. I had to give my orange brain cell a flea bath a couple years ago. He fought so much that one person had to hold him and the other person had to bathe him. He ended up snagging his claws in my shirt and ripped the sleeve. Thankfully it was a pretty neutral shirt.

And yes this was my first cat, Fluffy (2000-2020) and she was the most relaxed cat in the world. Just had to share 😊 I believe she was a Norwegian Forest Cat though.

I had a large ragdoll who looked very similar. He passed some years ago of kidney failure. Seeing videos like this is crazy because they look so similar.

By actual grooming I mean human aid with grooming, which can be done by a professional or just by the cat's guardian at home, and yes, brushing counts. Long haired cats DO lick themselves, but it's like trying to brush your hair with a really poor comb for the job. Like, trying to brush an entire head of ass-length hair with a toothbrush. Their tongues are "designed" to comb out short hair, not long hair, which is a genetic mutation we bred into them. So it's on us to maintain it.
Longhair cats are a bit like overweight or arthritic cats in that they may try to groom by themselves, but they need human intervention to get the job done. They can't reach everywhere they need to and they can't get follicle to tip in one swipe of the tongue.
