The site shows in stock until you add to cart. I tried an incognito window after it switched to OOS and it also displayed the same behavior.

Brownells still has the regular a1 uppers in stock, I got one the other day. Difference is no brass deflector.

I don't understand why so many companies produce a1/c7 uppers but it's a still a pain to get a2's (even though this is waaaay better than it was a few years ago to get any carry handle upper). Give me all my sight adjustments in one place, I will inevitably lose the tool for the front sight for elevation and don't care to dick around with a casing to make it work.

They probably slowed or stopped production of that style (lower demand) to make modern rifles during Covid (high demand). Now that retro cloning is taking off big, it leaves us with high demand, low supply of A2 parts until manufacturers see the value of tooling up for them again.

All you have to do is cut a notch in the back of the blank c7 upper carry handle, all of the sight parts are attached. It almost seems like it would be easier than cutting a channel for the a1 sight.

Thunder Tactical. The main caveat is the former lack of credit card security, they used to have issues but are supposedly fixed now. I purchased one of their uppers when it first dropped and haven’t had issues with fraud, a lot of others have been able to purchase from them with no issue. There’s also ways to be more secure with your purchase like temporary online credit cards or whatever that you load.
Thunder tactical sells a Raw Aluminum A2 upper or a matte black finished upper. Their finished option includes stripped, rear sight included, all the way to a full built upper minus the barrel. Click around to see what’s in stock, I know the stripped black and raw aluminum are in stock now. Check out my post history for the photos of mine. Mine didn’t come with a forging mark but the new ones supposedly do. Here is your link.

When they initially dropped 3 plus weeks ago it was 131 then about an hour after I bought they raised the price. Brownells does that sometimes..

Mine came in today and it has the same part number on the bag as Brownell’s part number. So either either they have the same distributor or he got them from Brownell’s.

The rear sight is a pain in the ass to get on if you're free balling it with just a hammer and punch, but the parts are cheap for completing an A1 upper so it's still a good deal

Technically, no. It's a screw, two springs, a detent, and a roll pin. Should be able to do it with only a screwdriver and a roll pin punch or maybe a pair for pliers.

- Almost certainly not
- I don't think Colt used much in terms of C7. You're probably looking for forward assist without brass deflector or something like that.
