[Haynes] Draymond Green was apologetic in aftermath of the altercation with Jordan Poole, but there was a buildup stemming from teammates noticing a change in Poole’s behavior throughout camp with the guard on the verge of securing a lucrative extension, league sources tell @YahooSports . News

Haynes may as well call himself Dame and Dray’s ghostwriter at this point.

Chris Hayne’s main writing style: Players Tribune fluff piece

u/IAmNotKevinDurant_35 [GSW] Zarko Cabarkapa Oct 06 '22

You can usually tell which writers are mouthpieces for whom when you've followed the league long enough. Haynes is a turner employee just like Draymond too. Marc J Spears is usually Andre's guy, Marcus Thompson for Steph, and Kawakami for the front office

50

u/bobdylansmoustache Lakers Oct 06 '22

Does Kawakami still argue with randos on Twitter 24/7 before blocking them? Thinnest skin in the sports media game. I would think it’s a badge of honor for a Warriors fan to be blocked by him.

34

u/SherlockBrolmes Wizards Oct 06 '22

lmao years ago I called him out (after Harbaugh was hired) for saying that there was no chance that Jim would go to Michigan. I don't remember exactly what he said to me but..... he was not happy (oddly enough he got a lot of likes).

To this day, only block on Twitter I've ever received.

58

u/WhiteHeterosexualGuy Hawks Oct 06 '22

This is pretty pedantic but I wish this was a more of a curve. Like you fuck around at a 5 but only find out at a level of 2. And then it gets steeper and steeper. So ppl that keep clowning and clowning have not much of any consequences until they reach one level too far and that curve takes them up to an 8 or somethin

50

u/nomadofwaves NBA Oct 06 '22

My GF works for a local city government and there’s fights at the community center over basketball all the time.

The best story is these two dudes fighting in the parking lots both drop their phones during the fight then someone tells them the cops are on the way so everyone runs and leaves. Cops show up find their phones on the ground and take them. Later the guys showed up looked for their phones for almost an hour and then went to the front desk and asked if anyone turned any phones in and the lady at the front desk was like “no one turned them in but the police said you can go up to the police station and get them back.”

19

u/AdolescentThug [LAL] Shannon Brown Oct 06 '22

My YMCA has cliques because of this. There’s the 20-somethings who are all business and that’s who I usually play with. Then there’s the old heads who argue every call and get into fist fights with each other once a week while going for drinks after said fight.

Also there’s the AAU teenagers who chuck from half court 99% of the time and both groups despise them.

If he does well it’s “wow his first ever playoffs, and he’s already providing much needed scoring on the biggest stage against the best defense in the league”.

Gotta consider Poole is a new addition relatively. To him, he helped bring them out the mud and to a championship. But guys like Igoudala and Looney who’ve been there know that the team was never actually bad, they just took a year off between multiple injuries.

Poole might think they need him because he was bad when they were bad, and when he got good they won a chip. But every other guy sees the 3 rings before and knows the Warriors system is much greater than a single Jordan Poole level player.

58

u/Bob_Ross_was_an_OG Bucks Oct 06 '22

GS record 2014-2015 to 2018-2019: 322-88. Curry played in 87% of those games.

GS record 2019-2021 to 2020-2021: 54-83. Curry played in 50% pf those games.

It's obviously not a 1-to-1 measure, but if Poole really thinks he played as big as role as you say (and that's a big if imo), he's either dumb as a rock, narcissistic as hell, or both.

24

u/CptnMoonlight 76ers Oct 06 '22

I don’t think he sees himself as ‘the man’. But I think his scoring prowess inflates his ego to the point where he may believe he’s what Klay was in the early days as the 1B scorer and key piece. Whereas us watchers would probably rank it as of now Curry, Wigg, Dray, then Poole, and then slightly washed Klay/Looney.

And the stats kind of support what I said from his perspective. When Curry was out and Poole was absolute dogshit, the Warriors were awful. Then Curry comes back and Poole becomes solid, and they win a chip. I think it’s very possible Poole gives more weight to the ‘I got better’ part of that equation, whereas most people would put it nearly 100% on Curry coming back.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '22

Whereas us watchers would probably rank it as of now Curry, Wigg, Dray, then Poole

Poole is above Draymond in a LOT of people's opinions. That's why Poole is gonna get paid over Dray and that's why he's so mad.

Poole balled out, he ain’t gotta be a bitch boy. All these sour pusses in here judging Poole when Draymonds the bigger asshole even outside of basketball. He’s so woke talking about media like a conspiracy theorist. He’s getting paid by the same people who own the media. Wtf is he crying about. Y’all get your cheques from the same shit.

He's played a heavy part of getting them 4 rings in a decade. He's annoying but he's earned it.

Neither of them are anything without Steph or Klay. They should both stfu and ball and be grateful they can play with the Splash Bros.

To everyone saying Haynes is taking sides, first thing Klay said after winning the 3point contest 3 days ago was that he was happy Poole was humbled. Didn’t think anything of it until this incident.
